A Royal Birthday Dinner

Our annual Relief Society Birthday Dinner was held on Saturday, March 16th, 2013.

Tonya Adams put together an amazing program based off of Jenny Phillip’s book, “Beautiful” for our Relief Society Birthday Dinner.

Everyone received an elegant scroll invitation to this special event.

Around fourty-five young women and relief society sisters arrived to find the cultural hall decorated with a castle and filled formal dinner tables.

The tables were decorated with floral centerpieces, faux candles, and sprinkled with miniature golden keys.

A delicious dinner of gourmet chicken with sauce, roasted vegetables, baked potatoes, and rolls was served. And of course there was cake for dessert.

Priesthood holders (including the Bishop, Brother Lamb, Brother Adams, Tucker Adams, Kaleb VanGorkum, and Andrew Brown) did all the serving and clean-up, including washing all the dishes. They did it all with nary a complaint and looking very dapper in their suits and ties.

During the program, Tonya Adams read the story as a slideshow displayed pictures from the book. Throughout the program there were great musical performances by Judy Probert, Stacy McAllister, Britany Rodriguez, and Britny Chandler. Bishop Weber introduced the program and gave a closing narration, along with his own remarks.

The sisters learned that true beauty comes from within, when we strive for the attributes of charity.

Handmade bookmarks were given out as favors to remember the evening.

A special thanks to:
Deveney Herb for making the beautiful centerpieces and corsages for the singers.
Cynthia Jackson for running the slideshow and music, and helping to make the bookmarks.
Brother and Sister Vogel from Pioneer ward for babysitting six of our ward’s children that night.
All the set-up helpers, cooks, and everyone else who helped make the activity a success.
And of course, Sister Adams for all the hard work she put into this special evening!
